How to use this guide

Answer for what your team actually does — not what the policy says.

This guide walks you through 41 questions across 7 stages of your procurement cycle — from the moment you start collecting quotes on a project, through to how and when those costs appear in your financial system. You don't need an accounting background. You need to know how your business really operates.

The most common mistake in a self-audit is answering based on the procedure written three years ago instead of the behaviour that happens on the ground today. Some questions are Yes / No / Action needed; others ask you to pick the option that best describes how your business actually operates. Each answer earns points, weighted by how risky the control is — high-risk controls count three times as much as low-risk ones — and anything short of full marks lands in a prioritized findings list at the end. Your answers save in this browser as you go.

This isn't a compliance checklist or a pass/fail test. It's a diagnostic. Most companies that work through it find two or three areas where the answers surprise them — a control they thought existed doesn't, or a process they assumed was working isn't.
